Stoneman to Lead the Dynamos at the Ageas Bowl

Durham will this weekend travel to the Ageas Bowl to take on last year’s 40 over champions Hampshire Royals in a crucial Yorkshire Bank 40 contest.

The Dynamos will be keen for a win after their last limited overs match was abandoned at The Oval against Surrey with the visitors not given the chance to chase down a modest 216 set by Surrey with rain washing the match out at the change of innings.

With a win, a loss and a draw the Dynamos come up against top of the table and defending champions Hampshire Royals who have the two wins (against Essex Eagles and Scotland) and the one loss (against Surrey) with early points and form key in the competition.

With One Day Captain Dale Benkenstein ruled out with a shoulder injury. Opening Batsmen Mark Stoneman will lead the side in Dale's absence. Stoneman does have captaincy experience after leading Durham in their First Class Tour match against Australia A in 2012. Mark’s first experience of captaincy was a memorable one as Durham beat their Australian counterparts by 19 runs. Mark was also captain the last time Durham Dynamos faced Hampshire Royals in the abandoned 40 over game at Emirates Durham ICG last season.
